Manchester
Museum
This museum offers to the visitor more than six million
objects from all over the world, from Indian butterflies
and engravings, to birds of the Pacific Ocean, frogs
and old ceramics from America, Australian native art
and fossils.
The first collections were the result of the Society
of Natural History of Manchester work, that since its
beginnings in 1821, has seen their collections grow
thanks to the contributions of institutions like the
Geologic Society, the Owen School and private contributors
like the textile industrialist Jesse Haworth.
