The
west of England
The western peninsula of England, next to south Wales,
includes Somerset, Devon and Cornualles counties and
the city of Bristol. Here, the beaches are absolute
protagonists. Bristol always has had an active social
and economic life, partly owed to its strategic position
as a departure and arrival point of the transatlantic
that furrowed the ocean connecting Europe with America.
The visit to the city can start at the "Centre"
district, near the cathedral and connected to the most
tourist areas by an aquatic cab line. The oldest church
of Bristol is St. Stephens and in King Street are still
conserved several 17th century buildings and mansions.
One short trip to the nice city of Bath can be made
from Bristol. This is one of the more fashionable tourist
destinies in the last years. The most interesting places
are the Roman baths and the abbey. To the south of the
region raises the city of Exeter, with its magnificent
St Peter cathedral and its two Norman gothic style towers.
